Updated Provider Manual Effective January 18, 2020

A new version of the Texas Provider Manual will go into effect January 18, 2020. To download a preview copy of the new manual, go to http://manuals.mcna.net/texas?v=1.11. The current Texas Provider Manual is always accessible at http://manuals.mcna.net/texas.

Rate Change Notice

The CDT code D7111 is being updated to require additional information, and the fee has been changed to match the HHSC rate and the rate of the other dental plan. As a result, effective January 18, 2020, the reimbursement rate for CDT D7111 will be $11.47 and the coverage description will be: TIDs #A-T and AS-TS. A Birth-20. All primary teeth within the normal exfoliation period will require submission of an x-ray (or intraoral photograph if the tooth cannot be seen radiographically) and rationale.
Important Update About ADA Dental Claim Forms

Effective January 1, 2020, the Texas Medicaid & Healthcare Partnership (TMHP) will only accept the 2018 or 2019 versions of the American Dental Association (ADA) Dental Claim Form. Please click here to read more.

Sedation of High-Risk and Pediatric Patients

On or after September 1, 2019, a permit holder may not administer sedation/anesthesia under a level 2, level 3, or level 4 permit to a pediatric patient unless the permit holder has completed the requirements and has received authorization from the Board to administer sedation/anesthesia to high-risk or pediatric patients. Once you have received your approval letter from the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners, please submit it to mcnacredentialing@mcna.net. Please use the subject line, “Texas Pediatric Sedation Authorization Course.”
New Pediatric Sedation / Anesthesia Requirement

Effective September 1, 2019, dentists holding level 2 – 4 anesthesia permits cannot administer sedation / anesthesia to patients younger than 13 years of age without an authorization to do so issued by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE). Click here to read more about meeting this requirement through a new continuing education course offered by the Texas Dental Association.
Once you complete the required courses please submit your course completion documentation to mcnacredentialing@mcna.net. Please use subject line “Texas Pediatric Sedation Authorization Course."
